HMDT Music creates inspiring arts projects to transform lives, enrich learning and bring about change.

Dedicated to breaking down barriers to access, we offer all young people and their communities, particularly those facing challenging circumstances, sustained programmes to develop skills, raise aspirations, improve mental health and support self-expression and creativity. Our mission is to use the arts to explore and fight injustice and inequity, particularly for communities facing discrimination and deprivation and to use a historical exploration of marginalised voices to bring about change.

Working with expert practitioners and artists, HMDT Music, twice winner of the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Education and winner of the Excellence in Music Theatre Award is a leader in increasing access to high quality musical experiences and opportunities through resources, mentoring, workshops, teaching, partnerships and performance commissions.

We are committed to working with all communities, young people, practitioners and artists with many of our programmes aimed at supporting and reflecting those experiencing racial inequity and prejudice, gender discrimination and SEND. Diversity is also reflected in our variety of music styles, genres and art forms, which value the people and communities with whom we work.

We respond to the needs of individuals and communities by linking people, art forms and different learning styles in imaginative ways; challenging participants and audiences and allowing artists to take creative risks. We strive to be courageous by highlighting and sharing untold stories, cultures and historic events of those who suffered injustice and inequity, building awareness and celebrating the voices and dignity of those who would otherwise not be heard to bring about change.
